Skating at the Kaiser Auditorium

Richard Humphrey teaching a room full of people how to roller skate on a wood floor in Florida

Story by Richard Humphrey

“Back in 1995, the opportunity was presented to me by David Miles in Golden Park to perform at The Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center. They were hosting an exhibition, where we showcased my Rollerdance Academy skaters. Other groups performed as well. The floor was perfect to skate on, and being that it was wood made all the better. Also, this clip at the time was one of the first showing my skate group on VHS tape – which I still have.

It will be so nice to once again roll and dance on the floor 28 years later with my now current Academy skaters and the entire Bay Area, which has not had such a great place to skate indoors in a very long time. The Bay Area skaters will really love this venue. We can't wait.”
